Manage Tax Pressures while Maintaining Quality Services

Keep taxes manageable and services strong
Residents expect high-quality services and responsible stewardship of their tax dollars. My commitment is to keep North Cowichan financially strong while making smart investments that improve our community and keep taxes as affordable as possible. My priorities are to:
-
Keep property tax increases as affordable as possible while maintaining the services residents rely on and continuing investments in infrastructure.
-
Grow the industrial and commercial tax base to reduce pressure on residential taxpayers.
-
Ensure growth pays for growth by keeping Development Cost Charges current so new development contributes fairly to infrastructure costs.
-
Pursue provincial and federal funding to reduce the burden on local taxpayers.
-
Invest strategically in roads, bridges, water, and sewer infrastructure to protect public assets and avoid more costly repairs.
-
Continue to deliver reliable core services, including policing, fire protection, parks, recreation, and bylaw enforcement.
-
Protect North Cowichan's long-term financial health through responsible budgeting, prudent reserve management, and long-range infrastructure planning.
-
Be transparent and accountable by clearly communicating how public funds are invested and why decisions are made.
